Zoom In

Boston – 2021

Affiche La Lueur de l'Aube de Ken Ossola

Argument

Facing the physical limitations due to the coronavirus, Boston Ballet and myself have been collaborating online for the very first time. The medium “Zoom” and the IT support of Boston Ballet made it possible to create art in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and in Boston at the same time.

Inspired by the dancers and the meditative composition from Arvo Pärt “Fratres” the online sessions led to a work that invites to zoom in on intimacy, integrity, human emotions, and the great desire to stay connected.

Separated by an ocean yet being connected online with a view through a screen gave me the opportunity to be near the dancers and zoom in on every detail to translate it into movement that will invite the audience to zoom in as well.
